The KRE (KIN rewards engine) was built to promote a healthy ecosystem that maximizes everyone’s opportunity for participation and recognition.
Unlike current revenue models that monetize users, the KRE puts users at the center and rewards developers for peer-to-peer and in-app engagement.
By focusing on engagement, the KRE provides a new way forward where developers earn revenue by building experiences that maximize engagement between users and content creators who reward each other directly.

To understand the KRE metrics, we need to understand the following terms :
AU = active users (user that spends KIN at least 3 times in a month)
AUB = active users balance (total amount of KIN within all wallets from AU)
Here is the KRE formula :
KRE_weekly * (Active User Balance for app X / Active User Balances all apps) = payout for app X
Now let’s give an example with fake numbers.
There is also a maximum cap of how much AUB can be counted for each app.
Here is the formula :
AU * 100,000 = maximum AUB credited to app X
For example, if app X has 5000 AU, then 5000 * 100,000 = 500,000,000 AUB for app X. This means that even if app X has an AUB of 750,000,000 KIN, then only 500,000,000 will be credited to app X when comes the time to calculate their part of the KRE.
